Overview

Compu-Fire Starter Gear Drives

Compu-Fire starter gear drives and gear sets are upgraded aftermarket starter components primarily designed for Harley-Davidson© Big Twin motorcycles.

Key features and design:

* 10/84 gear ratio: These sets typically feature a 10-tooth pinion gear matched with an 84-tooth starter ring gear
* Increased torque: The 10/84 configuration delivers roughly 15 percent more starting torque than many stock gear setups
* Durability: The gears are forged from hardened 8620 carbonized steel to resist wear, chipping, and tooth breakage
* Fix for weak stock ratios: They're often used to replace problematic or weak stock gear configurations (such as late-model 10:102 ratio gears that are prone to snapping or grinding)
* OEM compatibility: The gears are engineered to drop into place and work with stock OEM clutch baskets
* Common product types:
-- 10/84 gear sets: Complete replacement kits are tailored to specific Harley-Davidson© Evolution and Twin Cam Big Twin model years (typically ranging from 1990 through 2006)
-- Replacement drives / pinions: Individual components like the Compu-Fire Gen III replacement drives and standalone 10-tooth replacement pinion gears for routine maintenance or repairs
