Feed Your Engine all the E85 It Wants with an Edelbrock VRS-4150 E85 Carburetor

E85 is wonderful stuff. Its 110+ octane rating provides great knock resistance, allowing you to run a higher compression ratio to make more horsepower. E85’s cooling effect lowers inlet temperatures to further improve power production. And if you get E85 at your local gas station, it’s a lot cheaper than race gas.

The downside is that E85 is less energy-dense than gasoline, so you have to run larger volumes of it to compensate. That means you need a fuel system with a carburetor that can handle large amounts of fuel.

Edelbrock has you covered with their VRS-4150 E85 Race and Performance Carburetors. Available in 850 and 950 cfm airflow rates, the carbs are fitted with larger jets and custom metering blocks that increase fuel capacity by 30%. What’s more, they have all the features you’d expect in a race-ready carburetor such as four metering circuits per venturi with externally accessible screw-in air bleeds. They allow very precise fuel curve tuning previously available only with professionally modified carburetors.

The Edelbrock VRS-4150 E85 carbs have idle bypass adjustment screws located on both sides of the main body. These adjustment screws let you set curb idle speed instead of using the throttle stop on the linkage. This is ideal for competition and hot street engines with long-duration camshafts and very low idle vacuum numbers.

Other features include:
• One-piece main body/throttle plate
• Throttle body flange drilled for 4150 and Dominator bolt patterns
• Annular discharge boosters
• Dual 50cc accelerator pump circuits
• Billet primary and secondary metering blocks with power valves to optimize jetting
• Fuel bowls with internal ribs and baffles to reduce slosh and aeration
• Secondary fuel bowl jet extenders keep the jets covered in fuel under hard acceleration
• Nitrophyl floats with corner cuts to prevent fuel flow shutoff during hard cornering
• Borosilicate sight glass windows on each side of the fuel bowls to set float level
• Two additional links to adjust mechanical secondary opening rate
• Provision for a GM three-wire TPS sensor
• Vacuum ports for PCV, power brake, vacuum advance, and transmission modulator
• Uses standard 4150 replacement and tuning parts like main jets, bleeds, and power valves

Edelbrock recommends the VRS-4150 E85 850 cfm carb for healthy street/strip small and moderate displacement big block engines making up to 750 horsepower and where peak revs are generally below 7,000 RPM. Choose the 950 cfm carb for more aggressive large displacement, higher-rpm, or higher-power combinations that need additional airflow for engines exceeding 7,000 RPM and 800 horsepower.
