Our 2019 F-150 rolled off the dealer lot equipped with several popular options, including the FX4 off-road package and STX appearance group, a 5 1/2 ft. bed, and Ford’s robust Coyote 5.0L V8 under the hood.
“Stock, this truck would be a perfect daily driver for pretty much anyone,” says Grosser. “It has plenty of room inside, plus the ability to throw things in the bed like mulch. Or it would be great for someone who wants to tow a camper or car trailer.” -

“There are usually three modifications folks make when they first buy their truck: a tonneau cover, step bars, and floor liners,” explains Anthony. “They’re almost necessities.”
And taking Anthony’s sage advice, we started our build on the practical side with a full set of mudproof WeatherTech Floor Liners, a slick tri-fold BAK BakFlip MX4 tonneau cover, and a pair of aggressive-looking HDX Drop Steps from Westin—an essential upgrade for trucks sporting an increased ride height. -

And to achieve that increased altitude, we turned to FOX Racing, whose suspension components are well-regarded by off-road experts for their Goldilocks combination of all-out performance and comfort.
“With the FOX 2.0 Performance Series IPF coil-overs up front and 2.0 Performance IPF shocks in back, our F-150 has an improved ride quality over the factory setup, plus a 2” lift up front,” says Anthony. “That in turn allowed us to fit a larger tire, which provided even more ground clearance.” -

The truck’s Pro Comp Syndrome 44 Series wheels (20" x 9" front and rear) have a rugged satin black finish, and look extra tough wrapped in meaty 275/60 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires.
“The BFGs not only give the truck a more aggressive look, they’re also one of the best all terrains out there,” says Anthony. “They’re a high-quality, long-lasting tire with the best combination of on- and off-road traction.” -

Of course, our big red truck’s glow up doesn’t stop at the rolling gear. One of the biggest exterior upgrades we made to the F-150 are the Stealth Fighter front and rear bumpers from Addictive Desert Designs. These bolt-on, powdercoated steel replacements have a low-profile shape that provides the clearance you need to conquer the roughest terrain. And if that wasn’t enough, they also feature integrated mounting points perfect for our Summit 40" LED light bar up front, plus a pair of our LED off-road cube lights out back.

And the lighting upgrades don’t stop there! In addition to our high-powered LED light bar and cube lights, we swapped the stock headlights for ANZO U-bar projector-style beams, and made the leap to full LED units in the rear.
“The blacked-out headlights and LED taillights were a drastic change over stock,” says Anthony. “I can’t believe how much of a difference they made on the road, and in how the truck looked.” -

With its Race Red paintjob and brilliant lighting upgrades, you’ll definitely see our project F-150 coming your way. And thanks to the Borla ATAK exhaust system, you’ll hear it, too! The cat-back system features Borla’s Acoustically Tuned Applied Kinetics technology, which is calibrated specifically for our F-150’s Coyote V8.
“In my opinion, a truck needs to sounds like a truck,” says Anthony. “That’s why we went with the Borla ATAK system. It sounds like stock at cruising speeds, but gets rowdy when you hit the gas.” -
Slide 9
What good is a truck that can’t haul? In addition to a mountain of performance and appearance parts, Anthony’s plan included several upgrades aimed at maximizing the F-150’s utility. Here he is putting the finishing touches on the pickup’s height-adjustable Gen-Y Mega Duty drop hitch, complete with a BOLT receiver lock, which functions using the F-150’s own ignition key.
