The build took 5-years and the results are nothing short of fantastic. Josh’s Nova has a modern, muscular look that still respects the car’s classic lines. The front clip sports LED headlights, plus Josh’s 3-D printed grille and hand-made front splitter. Josh also covered the narrowed front bumper and what remains of the factory trim with satin silver paint.

“Autobody has been my main hobby since I was 16 years old,” says Josh. The years of experience have paid huge dividends, as the Nova is pure perfection from bumper to bumper. Gone are the rain gutters and door handles, while a flawless Red Rock Metallic paint job covers the Nova’s dead-straight sheetmetal.

Josh also jettisoned the stainless steel rear window trim. After extensive fabrication, the Nova’s flush-mounted rear window gives the car a sleek, modern look.

The Nova’s LS1 has been around…twice! A survivor of two previous roll-over accidents, the fuel injected engine now sits snugly in an immaculately-prepared engine bay. Let’s hope the third time’s a charm.

Josh’s custom headers serpentine their way through the crowded engine bay. “We duct taped a pair of collectors to a milk crate, and set it where we wanted the headers to end up. Then we built the headers with pre-bent U-bends,” explains Josh.

The Chevy’s interior is the perfect blend of modern performance and and ’60’s muscle car style. Josh changes direction with a MoMo steering wheel, while he controls the Nova’s forward progress with a trio of Lokar pedals. Plus, he monitors the LS1’s vitals with a complement of AutoMeter Phantom gauges housed in a Classic Dash insert.

A pair of Schroth Racing harnesses are anchored to a bar that spans the rear seat. “The bar clips in and out so I can still use the back seat,” says Josh. When not in use, Josh clips the bar into a custom made bracket in the Nova’s trunk.

The Nova is a true star from any angle. The X-body’s Tanks Inc. fuel tank looks like factory equipment, but it houses a modern submergible fuel pump that keeps the LS1 well fed.
