MagnaFlow universal catalytic converters by Car Sound form the basic building blocks for many applications. The main benefit of universal catalytic converters is that one unit may cover a wide variety of vehicle makes and models. Installing universal converters often requires the use of welding, cutting, and tube-bending equipment that is readily available to most professional installers. They are extremely well made, with features such as: * A ribbed body that minimizes expansion and distortion when the converter heats up. They form a channel that protects the cushioning mat from direct exposure to exhaust gasses, and hold the ceramic catalyst in proper alignment. * A 1/2 in. lap joint where the necks meet the body. The neck does not extend into the converter body, where it could hamper exhaust flow. * Manufactured with separate dies on different sized inlets. Installing headers can sometimes be a real pain, due to the tight spaces and the location and shape of the tubes. Mr. Gasket can help make installation a little easier and also help prevent annoying exhaust leaks from under-tightened header bolts. They have both the socket-head and hex-head styles of header bolts available. Hex types are heat-treated Grade 5 steel and have smaller-than-standard heads to ease access in tight spaces. Socket-head bolts are made from stronger Grade 8 steel for added ruggedness and they're great for those really difficult-to-reach spots. Both styles have a protective black oxide finish.

Dorman Exhaust Flange Repair Kits
On certain Ford trucks and vans, the original equipment studs connecting the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold flange can typically rust and break, and removal can be difficult, but Dorman has an OE FIX. Their exhaust flange repair kits offer a cost-effective, faster, and much simpler way to securely reconnect the converter and flange using ordinary hand tools, and without drilling, heating, or welding. Dorman exhaust manifold flange repair kits contain a pair of sturdy stainless steel brackets designed to fit over the broken stud sections on the manifold flange, and feature an integrated threaded stud that slides through the catalytic converter mounting holes. Just push the threaded end of each bracket through the catalytic converter mounting holes, place the contoured side of each bracket against the exhaust flange and around the headless broken studs of the exhaust flange, and secure the connection with the included stainless steel nuts. Make flange repairs without the high cost and labor of replacing the complete pipe. Select a Dorman kit for your OE FIX.
