MSD Pro-Billet Distributors

MSD Pro-Billet distributors share the same CNC machining techniques as the rest of the MSD distributor line. They feature a housing that's machined from high-quality 6061-T6 aluminum for durability and show-quality looks. Their oversized shaft receives a QPQ coating for friction reduction and corrosion resistance, with the added strength of two sealed ball bearings that guide the shaft accurately at well over 10,000 rpm. An extra-long sintered bushing replaces the ball bearing at the bottom of Chevrolet models. TIG-welded on top of the polished steel shaft is MSD's accurate mechanical advance assembly. The weights are supported by nylon pads that allow the advance to operate smoothly throughout the rpm range. For all-out racing, the advance mechanism can also be easily locked out. To accurately trigger the ignition, a high-output magnetic pickup is bolted to the base. This pickup produces a precise trigger signal that will never vary more than one degree at any rpm. A durable gear is installed for performance applications, and an MSD red cap with brass terminals and race rotor is supplied. They're available in standard and small diameter models for applications with limited clearance, and require the use of a separate ignition box such as an MSD 6, 7, 8, or 10 Series ignition.

With no advance assembly, the rotor plate is welded directly to the oversized shaft. Summit Racing™ Digital RTR Plus Billet Distributors

We've taken our original Ready-to-Run billet distributors and upped the ante with our Summit Racing™ Digital RTR (Ready-to-Run) Plus billet distributors. They now feature a digital module with a 7.5 amp rated dwell control circuit for maximum energy output. They deliver 400 volts and 125mJ of spark energy to the coil and upwards of 50,000 volts from the coil to the spark plugs. We've also added a single-stage rev limiter with a simple "tap to ground" process of the tachometer lead attached to the module to set the limiter. MSD Pro-Billet crank distributors are built specifically for racing engines with almost no room for a distributor, due to tunnel rams or blowers. These units are equipped with a special low-profile crab-style distributor cap, allowing them to fit into extremely tight areas. The housing features two optional O-rings at the bottom that improves oil control by preventing oil pressure loss. Also, a small oil bleed hole (located in the base) sprays oil on the distributor and camshaft gears to prevent excessive wear. Since these are racing distributors, there is an adjustable slip collar to make up for engines that have had the distance between the mounting surface and the gear modified.
