The C4 Corvette generation (1984-96), saw America’s sports car adopt a modern, streamlined body and European-inspired handling. This generation also saw the return of the legendary ZR-1 trim, complete with supercar-besting performance. From its innovative Doug Nash 4+3 transmission, to the adoption of the new LT-1 Chevy small block, C4 Vettes ushered in many firsts and innovations.
The T-tops were gone, replaced by a removable ‘Targa’ top, though the convertible returned in 1986. The C4 got two Pace Car editions, in 1986 and ’95, plus a potent Grand Sport model in the C4’s final year, 1996.
