The feed limit low valve in listed GM transmissions limits line pressure feed to the default disable solenoid and control valves. Feed limit low pressure is also connected to the boost ball system for "A" and "B" clutch control. This feed limit low valve is subject to significant side-load force, resulting in severe wear and pressure loss to the default disable solenoid and connected control valves. Such pressure loss can put the vehicle into default mode at high speeds, resulting in momentary wheel lockup, sudden downshift to 2nd gear, harsh shifts or a P0747 code. The feed limit low valve can wear out in as little as 30,000 miles, with many vehicles requiring service by 35,000 miles. A national recall from GM includes installing updated software that monitors valve performance and wear, then triggers a check engine light and reduced propulsion message 10,000 miles before failure. Vehicles are then limited to 5th gear, commonly referred to as limp mode, until the valve body is serviced to address the failed valve. Sonnax case saver retainers are designed for 1999 and later GM 4L80-E units—and are the only intermediate clutch retaining ring case saver that allows the intermediate band to be retained. The case savers fit over the intermediate band anchor lug inside the case and extends rearward to support the intermediate clutch backing plate retaining ring, preventing case lug blow-out. Over the years there have been a variety of case saver designs, however, all required eliminating the intermediate band, as is often done in drag racing trans-brake applications. GM 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90 automatic transmission units may exhibit multiple line pressure and cooler/converter/lube flow problems due to excess wear in the pressure regulator bore. Deterioration at the balance spool end allows critical fluid loss, resulting in high line pressure, harsh shifts, and overheating due to reduced cooler/converter flow. Wear at the outboard spool robs converter feed pressure and lowers line pressure, resulting in soft shifts and burnt clutches. Sonnax TCC regulator and isolator valve kits assist in recovering hydraulic control and renew TCC performance. Severe wear of the TCC (torque convertor clutch) regulator valve bore, caused by oscillation of the OE valve, allows the regulated converter to apply pressure to your exhaust. Ford vehicles with C6 transmissions often have oil pan leaks. The original Ford C6 oil pans are made with thin-gauge steel. If the oil pan bolts are over-tightened, the flange at the bolt holes will warp and result in a poor gasket seal. Once the oil pan flange is distorted, it's difficult to repair and get a good seal. Sonnax automatic transmission pans are 25 percent thicker than OE, made of heavy gauge material and will resist warping at the bolt holes. The thicker flange will allow the bolts to be tightened enough to compress the gasket evenly and result in a good seal. Sonnax pans will withstand repeated assembly without damage.

GM 4L60, 4L60-E, 4L65-E. and 4L70-E input drum assemblies are known to crack where the input shaft is pressed into it (where the overrun clutch rides). Sonnax input drum reinforcement kits include a hardened steel sleeve that reinforces the input drum to prevent this failure.
