Trail-Gear universal heavy-duty hydro assist ram kits feature a heavy-duty single-ended hydraulic ram in your choice of 6 in. or 8 in. stroke. Trail-Gear's specially designed ram features a 1 1/8 in. rod for maximum strength and a 2 1/4 in. diameter bore for maximum steering force. The provided mounting brackets in kit have fitments made from 1/4 in. thick-formed steel. The specially formed brackets fit most applications to make installation a breeze, however, do take note some applications may require additional cutting and/or grinding. Hardware, JIC hoses, and steering box fittings are included. Trail-Gear recommends a 6 in. stroke for most Toyota applications and a 8 in. stroke for Dana applications. Access to 2WD low comes in extremely handy in tight switchbacks and other places on the trail where gear reduction is necessary, but 4WD isn't. Trail-Gear unit hubs are not just another aftermarket 1-ton unit hub that's been machined down and modified from an 8-lug to a 6-lug application. No, Trail-Gear designed these units for a specific application, so the hubs will bolt right onto Dana 60 or 9 in. housings that are set up for unit hubs. They're made to accommodate a 30- or a 35-spline axle shaft and use a 1/2 in.-20 threaded wheel stud with a 6 x 5.5 in. wheel bolt pattern. These are the same unit hubs that you will see on most competition buggies. They are ultra-strong and easy to replace. Simply unbolt the old one and bolt on the new replacement hub. This is a much simpler and stronger unit then the stock spindles being replaced. All unit hubs include integrated roll pin to prevent the spindle nut from coming loose.
