Howards Cams direct lube hydraulic flat tappet lifters use a precision minor flat ground on the side of lifter body to supply oil to the cam lobe/lifter interface. This allows for a constant oil supply to the cam lobe, resulting in higher valve spring pressures, more aggressive profiles, and reduced lobe wear.
