Cast from a proprietary 356 T-6 aluminum ingot, the Freedom Series LSR engine blocks are engineered with precision and designed for durability to deliver unmatched strength and compatibility with OEM LS accessories. Reinforced from top to bottom, the blocks are built for maximum performance with added features, like cross bracing in the lifter valley, maximized crankshaft saddle radius, and a 40 percent larger footprint for the main cap contact surface to the skirt wall. These modern 5.0L 32-valve DOHC V8s use advanced features, such as direct and port fuel injection, twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT), high-flow cylinder heads, dual throttle bodies, and a heightened compression ratio to deliver 480 hp and 415 lb.-ft. of torque (with premium fuel).
