Race failure is a chronic problem with high-torque loads causing race fractures at two stress points: the radial lube holes and the sharp inside corners at the base of the outer splines. Sonnax outer races are engineered with offset lube holes so rollers never travel directly over the holes, and they are spaced so only one roller is ever positioned near a hole, radically reducing the risk of fracture. Other design improvements to the splines, plus upgraded material and a custom manufacturing process, further improve durability, doubling the torque capacity over any OE or other aftermarket races. Sonnax output shaft supports are high-strength replacements for the stock Powerglide output shaft support. They are made from high-strength 6061-T6 billet aluminum to ensure rigidity where it is needed most. The supports are purposely built for racing, eliminating the provisions for the governor. A high-quality pre-installed roller bearing keeps friction losses to a minimum, while the billet aluminum construction lowers the weight dramatically. The Sonnax output shaft supports can be used with both long and short OEM and aftermarket tailshaft housings to allow for use in almost any drag racing application. They feature a true bolt-on installation for the popular Powerglide transmission and can benefit both bracket ET and professional drag racers.

They are manufactured from high-quality, heat-treated alloy steel--and the roller burnish finish in the seal bore improves sealing for better pressure. The spline and knurl areas have been selectively induction-hardened to resist wear; a pronounced knurl enables more positive press fit. The Sonnax stator support shafts are specially-designed for severe-duty race applications.

In some transmissions, the low/reverse sprag elements, end caps, and retainer plates are prone to wear, while the race is often unaffected, resulting in a bind-up going into 2nd gear or a 1-2 flare. Sonnax low/reverse sprag rebuild kits allow replacement of the caps, elements, and retainer plate without the expense of buying a full sprag assembly. Select the kit designed for your transmission. Sonnax heavy-duty reverse pistons offer high-strength that will not break at racing pressures. Made from 6061 T-6 billet aluminum, Sonnax reverse pistons are configured to utilize four frictions and five steels, but can also be machined to accept additional frictions and steels for trans-brake applications. They're customizable for any application. To reduce rotating weight in Circle Track applications, two frictions (rotating) and seven steels (non-rotating) can be used. Sonnax heavy-duty reverse pistons include inner and outer seals.
