American Powertrain ProFit Tremec TKX manual transmissions and installation kits put the power to the pavement with unmatched durability and versatility. Tremec has normally sourced their aftermarket transmissions from the OE side, such as the Magnum T-56 and the T-5, but this new design is made from the ground up as a strictly aftermarket transmission. Designed to fit classic muscle cars and customs, the TKX has a tighter, more streamlined case, and features 600 lbs.-ft. of torque capacity and are capable of engines speeds of 8,000 rpm with shifts at 7,500 rpm. The compact design provides clearance in most transmission tunnels without floor modifications, while case strength has increased from previous models with the new 3-piece aluminum housing and gaskets at all flanges simplifies installation and eliminates fluid leaks. These Extreme Duty X-Beam forged billet connecting rods are designed to provide the ultimate in strength and durability. These rods start with certified 4340 aircraft-quality steel and are fully CNC-machined on the newest generation of equipment to ensure the removal of all surface imperfections. A precision EDM laser burns a hole from the top of the rod bearing journal to the wrist pin bushing for an extra supply of oil to the piston pin. They are fully stress-relieved and shot-peened to ensure that no stress risers remain. The beam is profiled for weight savings and the cap has been lightened for easier balancing. They are specially heat-treated using a multi-phase process and the rod caps are double-ribbed for added strength. Their rod cap alignment dowels to keep the bearing caps precisely aligned. Howards Cams Extreme Duty X-Beam forged connecting rods are bronze-bushed for floating pins, while 7/16 in. ARP cap screw fasteners secure the caps.
