AEV Conversions first introduced OE-level suspension engineering to the aftermarket over a decade ago. They continue to build on that legacy today, while also broadening their spectrum of suspension performance with the introduction of DualSport XP Suspension System for a variety of Jeep and RAM applications. The factory suspension on many vehicles is soft, lightly damped and with a low suspension frequency. This "soft tuning" can make the handling feel a bit loose and uncontrolled—not the ideal suspension formula for overland enthusiasts who also need to manage lots of cargo and gear when traveling off the grid. As with all AEV expedition-ready suspension systems, coil spring and shock tuning was essential to provide the optimal balance of load-carrying capacity and ride quality that customers have come to expect from AEV. The DualSport XP Suspension System includes a set of frequency-tuned, triple-rate coil springs to provide 2.5-3 in. of additional front and rear ride height. Customers can now fine tune their DualSport XP Suspension System even further by choosing one of two available coil spring options: * 2.5 in. Standard Load Coil Springs are optimized for a vehicle with typical gear/cargo inside. This means the ideal ride height, handling and overall performance will be achieved on a vehicle with steel bumpers, winch, full-size spare and recovery gear (+0-400 lbs. over factory weight). * 3 in. High-Capacity Coil Springs are specifically designed for overland enthusiasts who have a fully outfitted vehicle that is also consistently loaded with heavier gear (+400-700 lbs. over the standard load spring), such as modular cargo systems or roof rack/rooftop tent combinations. These coil springs are then paired with a set of AEV-tuned, Bilstein 8100 Series reservoir shocks for improved performance and consistency over rough terrain at higher speeds. The AEV/Bilstein coil spring and shock combination used in this suspension increases both up travel and down travel, while also providing better articulation and improved off-road speed potential and bottoming control. Even when towing, the suspension feels stable, planted, and confidence inspiring. AEV optimizes front and rear suspension geometry throughout the entire range of motion, tightening up the handling and road feel, resulting in a great ride and performance without introducing harshness or driver fatigue. In the front, a pair of AEV's heavy-duty, stamped control arm geometry correction brackets are included for improved ride quality and reduced nose-dive under hard braking. A rear track bar tower extension is included to raise the rear roll center, reduce body-roll and generate a better turn-in response. Extended-length front and rear sway bar end links compensate for the additional lift height, while new front and rear bump stop spacers improve bumper/axle contact under full articulation and jounce. Due to this suspension system's lower lift height, there is no need to swap out any of the OE track bars, control arms or steering components. AEV Conversions 3 in. DualSport XP suspension systems are available for various RAM trucks and are focused on optimizing suspension/steering geometry and application-specific shock tuning to deliver the best possible on-road comfort and handling—while also providing an ever broader spectrum of off-road performance, thanks to the AEV/Bilstein XP8100 reservoir shocks included in this system! HD Ram trucks are built with literally dozens of different spring rates based on the powertrain, wheelbase, options and more, so offering a generic "gas" or "diesel" spring would have been a huge compromise in ride quality and/or load carrying capacity. AEV retains the factory front coil springs and pair them with 3 in. cast aluminum coil spring relocation spacers to achieve the additional lift height. This allows AEV to take advantage of the full range of factory spring rates and frequencies while still providing the necessary front end lift. The AEV/Bilstein XP8100 reservoir shocks included with the DualSport XP suspension system are constructed from aerospace-quality billet components and tuned by AEV to work in perfect harmony with your outfitted HD Ram. The AEV tunes shocks use the same target weight as their Prospector/Prospector XL turn-key conversions to ensure that you get the absolute best possible ride quality and handling, without the degradation in performance, commonly associated with the added weight of bumpers, winch, full size spare, tent, etc. Steering geometry is corrected by way of AEV's high steer kit, which includes a custom, no-drill forged drag link, AEV track bar and raised track bar tower. This system provides significant improvements to steering precision and handling by correcting the roll center height of the front suspension and bringing the steering geometry back into factory alignment. This results in reduced body roll and bump steer, which are major contributors to the loose or sloppy steering and driver fatigue commonly associated with many lift kits. For many of the same reasons that AEV chose to retain the factory front coil springs, 2 in. rear coil spring spacers are included with Ram 2500 suspension systems to provide the necessary lift height without sacrificing ride quality or load carrying capacity. AEV also includes a set of bump stop spacers, rear track bar relocation bracket, sway bar end links and a new power hop bracket (if applicable). The OE leaf springs are retained, and new cast iron blocks are installed to provide 2 in. of lift in the rear on Ram 3500 trucks. Ram 2500 Air Ride and 3500 Air Assist systems are also available. Front Axle Relocation Kit: The factory radius arms are repositioned for optimal geometry, moving the axle forward 1.0 in., which was engineered to use a 37 in. tire. This provides a more neutral impact response, while also allowing more clearance for larger tires. A billet aluminum front driveshaft spacer is included to accommodate the new front axle positioning. AEV also offers a 1.6 in. axle forward kit, which was engineered to use a 40 in. tire. For additional peace of mind, the DualSport XP suspension system is backed by AEV's Lifetime Warranty.
