DRP Performance Premium Low Drag Bearing Kits
DRP Performance offers premium low drag bearing kits for a wide range of applications, including many Ford, Chevy, and Pontiac cars from the 1960s, '70s, '80s, and '90s. Low drag hub components reduce friction and lower temperatures, making your wheels spin easier, delivering more horsepower to the track—all while reducing maintenance and making your race car faster. Enhance your performance on oval track asphalt, oval track dirt, drag racing, road racing, and street applications. Kits include a DPR bearing spacer, DRP Premium Super finished Bearing Kit, and DRP Ultra low drag seal. Here are details on each component: * DRP Bearing Spacer: A difference you can feel—in the pits and on the track. Bearing spacers make the most difference of any low drag hub upgrade. Properly installed, these spacers will provide an immediate increase in hub free spin, an improvement large enough to feel just by pushing the car around. And the benefit doesn't stop there. Bearing spacers make the most difference when a side load (cornering force) is applied. Drivers have commented on how much faster a car with bearing spacers free rolls when entering and through the center of the corner. Bearing spacers simplify and reduce hub maintenance. Spindle nut torque is no longer sensitive. In fact, with spacers installed, you can tighten the spindle nut as much as you want without overtightening the bearings. (DPR recommends 20-40 lbs.-ft.) Bearings will run cooler and do not need to be repacked as often. Bearing spacers are simple to install. DRP bearing spacers have a threaded adjustment, allowing the user to quickly set bearing end play or preload. A set-screw locks the spacer at the desired adjustment. Once installed, they do not need to be readjusted unless you replace the hub or bearings. Bearing spacers are used in virtually every application in professional motorsports. * DRP Premium Super finished Bearing Kit: Reduce bearing temperature by over 100 degrees F verses stock bearings! Increase free spin by over 250 percent! DPR starts with premium quality bearings and puts them through a super finishing process. This process removes the grind marks and greatly smooths the surface of the bearing roller, while leaving a "hatch" pattern to retain grease. Quality wheel bearings will last the life of most racing applications. * DRP Ultra Low Drag Seal: …billet aluminum, full PTFE sealing lip, reusable, great for any application: dirt, asphalt, road race, street Decrease seal drag by over 1,000 percent! RAM Billet Steel Flywheels
Cast flywheels are not explosion-proof and can be dangerous when used in high performance applications at higher rpm. RAM billet steel flywheels are recommended as replacements for factory-cast flywheels in high performance and racing vehicles. Made in America and produced in-house, all RAM flywheels are computer balanced within a 1/2 oz., surface ground (which results an optimum mating surface), and are ready to run out of the box. They're better for launching heavier drag race cars and provide better drivability in street vehicles. SFI-approved, RAM billet steel flywheels are CNC-machined from certified materials. Order the model recommended for your year/make and engine application. Technical note: As they spin, heavy flywheels store more energy than lighter ones. Engine and gearing combinations that require more power or inertia to make the car launch without bogging the motor need heavier flywheels. However, heavier flywheels accelerate slower. Lighter flywheels create less inertia at launch, but accelerate quicker through the gears. When choosing a flywheel, you must consider the car's weight, operating rpm of the engine, and, most importantly, the gearing. Insufficient gearing will cause an engine with too light of a flywheel to "bog" on launch.
