OTC DEF refractometers make it quick and easy for an operator or technician to get an accurate measurement of urea concentration in DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) or AdBlue. EPA regulations require all diesel engines manufactured on or after January 1, 2010 to meet lowered NOx emissions standards. Most heavy-duty engine (Class 7-8 trucks) manufacturers, have chosen to utilize SCR—Selective Catalytic Reduction. This Includes Detroit Diesel (DD13, DD15, and DD16 models), Cummins (ISX line), PACCAR, and Volvo/Mack. SCR-equipped engines require the periodic addition of DEF (a urea solution) to enable the process. DEF is available in a bottle from most truck stops, and some have installed bulk DEF dispensers near the diesel fuel pumps. However, to ensure the proper operation of the SCR system, operators must certify the DEF in their vehicle consists of a 32.5 percent urea/water solution—the job of your OTC DEF refractometer.

Use Longacre Racing toe-in gauges to get very accurate toe-in measurements within 1/32 in. Simply jack up the front wheels and scribe a true running line on the face of the tires. Place the gauges in front of the tires and align the pointers with the scribe lines. Then move the gauges to the rear of the tires and align the fixed end with the scribe line.
