Clevite H-Series rod bearings were developed primarily for use in NASCAR type racing but are suitable for all types of competition engines. These H-Series bearings have a medium level of eccentricity, high crush factor, and have hardened steel backs and thin overlays. They also have enlarged chamfers for greater crankshaft fillet clearance and are made without flash plating for better seating. Bearings with .001 in. extra clearance are available for standard size shafts and with or without dowel holes. H-Series bearings are recommended for use with crankshafts that have oversize fillets and where engines run in the medium to high rpm range. They should also be used if contact patterns obtained with Clevite P-Series bearings are too narrow. Contact patterns should ideally cover 2/3 to 3/4 of the bearing surface.

P-Series rod bearings are the oldest members of the Clevite 77 performance bearing family. They're intended for high-revving engines, especially those where the high rpm cause the rod bores to narrow. To compensate for this distortion, these direct replacements have higher eccentricity and a high crush factor. Clevite P-Series rod bearings are built on hardened-steel backings with extra-thin overlays, and their lower sections have dowel holes for use with aluminum rods, and there are extra-clearance variations available with an additional 0.001 in. of clearance. Order the model designed for your vehicle and engine application.

King XP-Series rod bearings feature advanced metallurgical and geometric technologies that meet extreme performance loads. They were developed for all performance applications that use forged steel aftermarket crankshafts and produce high loads for extended periods. King focuses on one product—bearings—and nothing else. Their innovative race-only Xtreme Performance Max Black Tri-Metal rod bearings have a 24 percent stronger overlay and 17 percent more fatigue strength by using a micro process called SecureBond. Built with enhanced tri-metal, King XP-Series rod bearings layer copper-lead construction with a nickel plate barrier and a lead/tin/copper Babbitt overlay over a steel backing in an adhesion process that provides superior stability and durability. King's advanced control measures hit a bull's-eye, maintaining wall thickness tolerances far tighter than their competitors—at an amazing +/- .0001 in.! XP-Series rod bearings are narrowed on the crank cheek side with increased crush height for improved bearing-to-bore contact, heat transfer, and reduced spin potential in high-rpm applications.

These Summit Racing™ connecting rod bearings are just what you need to freshen up your engine. Why? They use silicon aluminum bi-metal construction. Silicon aluminum is the choice for many of today's engine manufacturers because of its high fatigue strength and superior temperature threshold. Bearing wear is dramatically reduced and the fatigue strength is greatly improved.

King HP-Series rod bearings were developed mainly for drag race applications needing a material harder than the Babbitt top layer. These applications demanded a structure that could withstand high loads for short durations and still offer higher embeddability and compatibility. In response, King developed the HP-Series, featuring the Alecular metal structure. The HP-Series is also suited for many performance applications with nodular cast iron crankshafts, such as street, strip, and some levels of Circle Track racing. Order the set recommended for your vehicle. HP-Series bearings are particularly suitable for the following cases: * When a tri-metal bearing's Babbitt overlay extrudes over the sides, migrates to one end, or is physically removed by the crankshaft * When the intermediate layer of a tri-metal bearing is exposed, damaging the crank journal and requiring expensive grinding or replacement * When contaminants enter the oil stream, scratching and damaging the crankshaft journals

Clevite coated H-Series rod bearings were developed primarily for NASCAR racing, but are also well suited to other types of competition engines. They're especially good for engines that run at medium-to-high revs. They have hardened-steel backings with thin overlays and a high crush factor, plus a medium level of eccentricity. H-Series bearings feature Clevite's exclusive TriArmor coating, the industry's only moly/graphite treatment. The sophisticated blend, in a low-friction PTFE polymer base, offers extraordinary protection and lubricity. They also have enlarged chamfers at the sides for greater crank-fillet clearance and are made without flash plating for better seating. The Clevite coated H-Series rod bearings are available with various under-sizes, including 0.001 in. of clearance for polished journals.

Federal Mogul CP-Series rod bearings feature classic tri-metal construction and are a good choice for either street or moderate competition use. They have rugged 1010 steel backings, covered by Federal Mogul's H-24 copper-lead alloy. On top of this is a nickel barrier, followed by the tri-metal (lead-tin-copper) overplate that gives these bearings their strength and fatigue resistance. The bearings are then entirely covered with a flash coating of tin. Order the set designed for use with your make/model and engine application.

Sealed Power A-Series rod bearings can actually polish the journals on your crankshaft. That's because there's a small percentage of silicon mixed in with the aluminum and tin that make up the bearing-surface alloy. The silicon is there for wear resistance, but its toughness actually smoothes the journals of a crank with a surface that hasn't been optimized! This special surface alloy is laid over a high-strength 1010 steel backing and delivers improved seizure and corrosion resistance, as well as better wall variance control. It also helps to minimize debris embedding, which can score the crank's surface. Order the replacement bearings designed for your vehicle make and engine application.

If you liked the results that you used to get with Vandervell bearings--especially their higher conformability--then you should love Clevite V-Series rod bearings, which basically duplicate the Vandervell items. Built on un-plated, hardened-steel backings for better dimensional accuracy and bore contact, they have low-to-medium eccentricity. The biggest difference between V-Series and other Clevite 77 bearings is their lead-indium surface alloy, which gives them that extra conformability. V-Series bearings are available in narrower versions to provide greater crank-fillet clearance, as well as in extra-clearance variations that provide an additional 0.001 or 0.002 in. of clearance.

If you're building a high-level competition engine, you'll definitely want to consider Speed-Pro Competition Series rod bearings. They were developed in the trenches in NASCAR and Pro Stock competition, so you know they're tough. These bearings are built on premium 1020AK steel backings and overlaid with Speed-Pro's super-duty H-14 alloy. That's covered with a nickel barrier, followed by a thin lead-tin-copper overplate. However, unlike other performance bearings, there is no flash tin layer on top of that. That's because Speed-Pro engineers have determined that such a layer can actually move around under high performance conditions, sometimes resulting in undesirable consequences. King introduces the new solution for the aftermarket demand of superior service life and performance in modern engines. The King MC-Series rod bearings were engineered in the wake of ongoing internal combustion engine development—resulting in ever-decreasing minimum oil film thickness values; higher cylinder pressures, temperatures and loads; smaller load carrying bearing surfaces; and lighter components. Additionally, "start/stop" technology produces more frequent mixed lubrication and metal-to-metal contact conditions. The new King MC-Series rod bearings feature a nano-composite polymer coating, known as K-340. It's designed for applying over relatively hard substrates: bronze, aluminum alloys, sputter overlay, and King silver overlay. These bi-metal silicone aluminum sets are available in different sizes for fitment on countless car and truck applications.
