To protect your engine from catastrophic failure, a rev limiter prevents it from exceeding a certain rpm, usually with a combination of reduced fuel flow or dropped spark. Launch controls also limit revs, often constraining them between a high and a low value for an optimal standing start for drag racing.

These MSD 2-step rev controllers coupled with MSD's digital 6AL ignition box let you choose from two different rpm limits that can be activated at different times. For example, you can use a lower-rpm setting for staging and then automatically switch to a higher-rpm setting after you release your trans-brake or line lock. The 2-Step is also digitally controlled and connects to the Digital 6AL's gray tach output wire. There are two easy to read rotary dials that let you set the launch rpm in 100 rpm increments from 2,000-11,800 rpm. There is an activation wire that connects to the transbrake, a clutch switch or to the line-lock to activate the low rpm limit. When that switch is released, the low rpm limit is turned off and the car launches hard!

There are two ways to limit your rpms. The rough way simply cuts off ignition spark, which can cause backfiring, extreme engine roughness, and possible engine damage. The gentle way is with these MSD Soft Touch rev controllers. They use sophisticated computer circuitry to drop spark one cylinder at a time, until your engine is at or below its maximum rpm. Those cylinders are then fired on the next cycle, to prevent them from loading up with fuel. The result is smooth rev limiting action without all the rough stuff. There are two versions of the Soft Touch rev controllers--one for MSD's 6T, 6TN, 6HVC ignitions, and one for OEM electronic and points ignitions. Both come with 6,000, 7,000, and 8,000 rpm plug-in modules, and can be used with other modules or MSD's RPM module selector.

MSD coil current boosters provide added power to your Ford coil-on-plug engine to support additional horsepower. They also provide a 2-step rev limiter to consistently launch your car off the line. The MSD boosters increase the peak current at the ignition coil and spark energy at the plug gap, making them ideal to support engines with increased cylinder pressure from bumped-up compression ratios, a shot of nitrous, or boosted applications. The 2-step rpm adjustments are made via two rotary switches adjustable from 1,000 to 10,900 rpm, in 100 and 1,000 rpm increments. Just plug them in to the factory wiring and hook up the activation wires as needed and you're set. MSD coil current boosters feature: * Increased current at the ignition coil * Increased spark energy at the spark plug * Built-in 2-step rev limiter for consistent launches and quick 60 ft. times * Quick, easy solution to increase ignition power on Ford modular engines * Factory-style wiring connectors plug directly into stock coils and harness
