Powersports throttle cables should be regularly inspected and replaced if they’re kinked, frayed, corroded, or damaged. Unless your powersports vehicle is equipped with a ride-by-wire setup, it’s likely to have a single or dual throttle cable. A single throttle cable opens the engine’s throttle plate, and your ride accelerates. When you release the throttle, a return spring closes the plate, and you slow down. If your ride is equipped with a dual throttle cable or push-pull setup, one cable pulls the throttle plate open to accelerate, while the other cable—along with a return spring—pushes the throttle plate closed when it’s time to slow down.
