Redhorse Performance PTFE hose bore correctors are one of those specialty tools that is nice to have on hand. They will safely open the bore on PTFE lined hose to properly seat the fitting. One of the worst parts of assembling PTFE AN line is getting stabbed by the steel braid as you try to pry it back and install the olive or ferule. If you've ever caught a piece of steel braid under your thumbnail, you know how awful this can be. In order to insert the "olive" into Speed-Flex Hose, the stainless protective braid must be separated from the PTFE liner. This can be more difficult than it sounds. These Earl's Performance hose braid spreaders solve the problem and eliminate the tiresome probability of poking holes in your fingers. They are simply inserted into the cut end of the hose and pushed, spreading the braid. The olive is then placed on the tool mandrel, pushed over the hose liner, and under the braid until the liner bottoms against the shoulder of the olive.
