Lisle Duramax flexplate holder and socket kits are designed to lock flexplates in place when removing the harmonic balancer on 6.6L Chevrolet Duramax diesel engines with an Allison automatic transmission. They save time by locking the flexplate at the transmission instead of having to remove the starter for water pump replacement. Simply remove the metal spring-loaded inspection plate on the bottom of the transmission, and slide the tool into the opening toward the engine--with the top of the tool engaging the teeth of the flywheel.
