Ken Miles: The Shelby American Years

Ken Miles is one of the most famous sports car racers in history, and his time at Shelby American was the pinnacle of his career. Ride shotgun with Miles through the twists and turns of Sebring, Laguna Seca, Riverside, and Le Mans—as seen through the lens of Shelby American photographer Dave Friedman! The hiring of Ken Miles by Carroll Shelby in February 1963 initiated arguably the greatest pairing of driver/owner partnerships in the history of motorsports. Not only did Shelby hire Competition Manager Miles as an accomplished road racer, but Miles also brought professionalism, innovation, and a keen attribute of being able to surround himself with budding, talented individuals. The list of race cars that Ken piloted at Shelby American is nearly unrivaled: the Shelby 289 Cobra, 390 Cobra, 427 Cobra, King Cobra, Shelby Daytona, Mustang GT350R, and Ford GT. Ken dominated the 1964 United States Road Racing Championship (USRRC) racing season by winning 8 of 10 races to secure the Manufacturers' Championship. However, it was at Le Mans where he became a worldwide household name. The robbery that was the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans is laid out in excruciatingly accurate detail, as Ford royalty Carroll Shelby, Carroll Smith, Homer Perry, Leo Beebe, Charlie Agapiou, Bob Negstad, Carroll Smith, and Peter Miles recall the race and the tragedy that followed two months later. Recapture a legendary career in this 240-page firsthand account paperback, "Ken Miles: The Shelby American Years."

Camaro Special Editions 1967-Present

Since its launch in 1967, the Camaro has been a friend to driving enthusiasts. Chevrolet's performance-minded individuals had their bona fide Bowtie pony car, and right away it was off to the races to craft and create versions that went above and beyond. The Camaro proved to be the perfect canvas for many kinds of special editions, and it has remained that way throughout six generations of the iconic model that has been loved worldwide. In SA Design's "Camaro Special Editions:1967–Present," author and expert Matt Avery spotlights the most significant special editions and closely explores the pinnacles of the model's lineage. Beginning with the classics, the story is told of the venerable Z28, the Corvette-sourced L89 and JL8, and the factory COPO zeniths, including the legendary ZL1. Moving to the realm of outside heavy hitters, Avery profiles the efforts of dealership partners, such as Nickey, Dana, Gorries, Baldwin-Motion, Yenko, and the works of motor maverick drag racer Dick Harrell. From its first year, the Camaro played a starring role as an Indy 500 pace car and during the festival celebration. A comprehensive look at the many different variants that have been present at the famed Brickyard speedway is included. A new body style in the 1980s brought further special editions, including the race-ready Player's Series and subsequent 1LE option. Fast-forward to the Camaro's fourth generation, and activities accelerated even quicker with contemporary tuners, such as Callaway and Street Legal Performance (SLP), joining the fray along with dealer programs from Berger Chevrolet, GMMG, Hendrick Motorsports, Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet, and more. The very latest Camaros are documented as well, including the resurrected ZL1 and Z28, Specialty Vehicle Engineering's reimagined Yenko street terror, and Chevrolet Performance's all-out COPO race car. Factory packages, such as the Hot Wheels and Transformers, are covered—and all of the anniversary editions are examined, each marking milestones in the model's 55-year journey in becoming the thumping heartbeat of American sports car prowess. It's been quite a ride, and there's no letting up anytime soon. This192-page soft cover book from CarTech is a must-have resource and authoritative guide for celebrating the Camaro and its many fantastic and storied special editions. Includes 426 color photos; forward by Adam Barry and Scott Settlemire. BONUS: QR codes provide more than 70 additional pages of content!

Vintage Volkswagen Beetle Accessories

Take a fun and nostalgic look at the world of Volkswagen accessories. It's well documented that the VW Beetle is the best-selling vehicle of all time. In 1972, the 15-millionth Beetle was produced, breaking the record set by the Model T about 40 years earlier. It was a simple design with styling that appealed to the masses. The Bug was affordable, practical, and fun. Because it was such a simple car and so many were sold, many people enjoy customizing their model with accessories, which has been a large market for these cars dating back to the 1950s and '60s. There's even a market today for people who collect these accessories without installing them. In SA Design's "Vintage Volkswagen Beetle Accessories," authored by veteran VW historian Stephan Szantai, a whole range of accessories are covered. Of course, a history of the Beetle is detailed, as well as the companies that formed the accessory aftermarket. Included are accessories for dressing up the exterior of the car, such as vented windows, bumpers and guards, turn-signal technology, add-on lighting, mirrors, etc. Then, interior accessories are examined, such as radios, ashtrays, gloveboxes, gauges, and clocks. No accessories book would be complete without engine accessories, covering both dress-up options and functional performance parts. Travel accessories, such as roof racks, coolers, extended gas tanks, tail racks, and coffee makers are detailed, along with wheels. A gallery of accessorized Volkswagens of all types is featured, including Type 2 Buses; Type 3 squarebacks, fastbacks, and coupes; Karmen Ghias—and even single- and double-cab pickup body styles are included. Join the fun and nostalgic romp through VW accessory history with this new 144-page softcover CarTech title that features everything cool about customizing your VW. Includes 317 color photos.
