These replacement arms are forged from 8620 steel, heat-treated, and then shot-peened for additional strength. They feature 3/4 in. long bronze bushings, compared to the more common 1/2 in. long bushings or needle bearings. They offer the same width oil supply and return gears as a stock Harley-Davidson® aluminum pump, but these driveshaft gears increase potential oil volume delivery by 25 percent over stock on some engines. S&S pumps are machined with an oil pressure bleed-off passage, relieving pressure build-up on top of the valve to maintain consistent oil pressure. Excess oil is also routed directly to the supply side of the pump to reduce the amount returned to the tank—which means less foaming and cavitation. The design, finish and workmanship of these cylinder replacements corresponds to the stock counterparts that they replace on various HD® models. These cylinders feature ductile cast-iron sleeves in aluminum castings and are available in silver or black wrinkle finishes to match your OEM components. Individual cylinders and cylinder sets without pistons are bored slightly under size and are not honed, so they may be finish-honed to fit your pistons.
