The Dodge Neon may have been introduced with a friendly “Hi” in 1995, but the potent compact instantly struck fear in the hearts of Japanese auto makers, who had long dominated the sport compact performance market. It looked good, was easy on gasoline, made more standard horsepower than other sport compacts, and had a lower MSRP, too. The Dodge Neon was successful on the autocross, road racing, and sport compact drag racing circuits, but also fit the bill as a practical, affordable daily driver. Chrysler took the Neon’s performance to new heights with the Dodge Neon R/T in 1998 and the SRT-4 in 2003....
