They feature cast iron construction with 2.5 in. diameter outlets and have been designed to hug close to the engine block so they fit into a wide variety of replacement and engine-swap applications. Their contoured design aims the exhaust directly at the exit port for improved flow. Varying with the application, Flowtech headers are constructed from sturdy and lightweight cold-rolled mild steel or stainless steel for increased strength and durability. All tubing is mandrel-bent to provide consistent tubing diameter for smooth flow and increased exhaust velocity. Extra-thick, machined header flanges provide a leak-free seal and maximum strength. For long-term rust and corrosion-resistance, available finishes include natural and polished stainless steel, high heat-resistant black paint, or a satin silver metallic ceramic thermal barrier coating. All mounting hardware and premium gaskets are included. Important notes: Breaking in an engine with ceramic coated headers WILL result in damage to the coating and will VOID all warranties. Ceramic coated headers require several heat cycles to fully cure before they will withstand extreme heat. Hooker recommends using cast iron exhaust manifolds or old headers to break in new engines to avoid coating damage. Flowtech does not recommend the use of header wraps as this will void the warranty.

Installing headers can sometimes be a real pain, due to the tight spaces and the location and shape of the tubes. Mr. Gasket can help make installation a little easier and also help prevent annoying exhaust leaks from under-tightened header bolts. They have both the socket-head and hex-head styles of header bolts available. Hex types are heat-treated Grade 5 steel and have smaller-than-standard heads to ease access in tight spaces. Socket-head bolts are made from stronger Grade 8 steel for added ruggedness and they're great for those really difficult-to-reach spots. Both styles have a protective black oxide finish.
