Racepak's Vehicle Network (V-Net) is a "smart data" transfer network able to transmit multiple signals from sensors over a single cable. The key to the V-Net system is the modular connectors that attach each of the devices to the main cable. For a function or component to be monitored on the V-Net, the signal from that device must pass through a sensor and its module (essentially a miniature computer) that identifies and retrieves only the proper incoming signals and allows other signals to pass through. The sensor measures the input from the function or device (i.e. rpm, pressure, temperature, etc.), while the module converts the signal so it can be transmitted over the V-Net. Racepak analog pre-programmed V-Net modules with sensors are programmed to collect specific data and are ready for plug-and-play installation on the V-Net cable. Browse through the various types to determine which functions or components you want your V-Net system to monitor.

Shock travel sensors are linear potentiometers that record the slightest amount of suspension movement. Monitoring the extension and compression of the shock absorbers aids greatly in understanding what the chassis is doing. It is a principal means of evaluating suspension movement and chassis setup. Regardless of your type of racing, Racepak shock travel sensors provide information that is frequently crucial to separating winners from the also-rans. They are usually connected through an analog port of a data recorder (sold separately) and monitored at high sample rates. An analog channel is required for each sensor; a separate sensor is required for each wheel monitored.
