MSD Pro-Billet distributors share the same CNC machining techniques as the rest of the MSD distributor line. They feature a housing that's machined from high-quality 6061-T6 aluminum for durability and show-quality looks. Their oversized shaft receives a QPQ coating for friction reduction and corrosion resistance, with the added strength of two sealed ball bearings that guide the shaft accurately at well over 10,000 rpm. An extra-long sintered bushing replaces the ball bearing at the bottom of Chevrolet models. TIG-welded on top of the polished steel shaft is MSD's accurate mechanical advance assembly. The weights are supported by nylon pads that allow the advance to operate smoothly throughout the rpm range. For all-out racing, the advance mechanism can also be easily locked out. To accurately trigger the ignition, a high-output magnetic pickup is bolted to the base. This pickup produces a precise trigger signal that will never vary more than one degree at any rpm. A durable gear is installed for performance applications, and an MSD red cap with brass terminals and race rotor is supplied. They're available in standard and small diameter models for applications with limited clearance, and require the use of a separate ignition box such as an MSD 6, 7, 8, or 10 Series ignition.

Proform's Street/Strip HEI distributors have a variety of improvements over stock HEI distributors, such as a 50,000 V coil, a premium hi-dielectric cap with brass terminals, both upper and lower bushings for added durability, a low-saturation ignition module, and no voltage-reducing ballast resistors. These units offer calibrated advance curves that are optimized for maximum combustion efficiency, and the elimination of detonation damage and throttle ping. The distributors offer longer-term durability and a higher voltage spark that permits a bigger spark plug gap, resulting in more power and reduced plug fouling. The Ford models' internal coil and module make it possible for Blue Oval owners to avoid the unsightly wiring of stock Ford electronic ignitions. We've taken our original Ready-to-Run billet distributors and upped the ante with our Summit Racing™ Digital RTR (Ready-to-Run) Plus billet distributors. They now feature a digital module with a 7.5 amp rated dwell control circuit for maximum energy output. They deliver 400 volts and 125mJ of spark energy to the coil and upwards of 50,000 volts from the coil to the spark plugs. We've also added a single-stage rev limiter with a simple "tap to ground" process of the tachometer lead attached to the module to set the limiter. The tachometer dual purpose lead also produces a 25 percent duty cycle, square wave signal, so it can be used with multifunction tachometers and most popular aftermarket EFI systems. Another bonus feature of our digital technology is a fully automatic start retard. This built-in feature provides 4 degrees of timing retard during cranking and is fully dialed out by 300 rpm.
