Infrared sensors are used to monitor the distance to an object, relative to the sensor, when contact cannot be made with the object. Racepak ride height sensors are ideal for use in setting up your vehicle suspension by monitoring the chassis height in relation to the moving ground plane (race track). These sensors with Molex connectors attach to the V-Net cable of any V-Series recorder, or 0-5 V module on a Pro-Series unit (sold separately). They can also be attached to the analog port by using an interface module, rather than the V-Net module. Standard Motor ABS speed sensors supply information regarding wheel movement to the ABS computer. They're often located at each wheel hub/rotor on 4-wheel disc systems. Alternatively, on rear drum applications, you'll usually find them mounted on the differential housing. Under braking, if wheel speeds are unequal, indicating wheel lockup, the computer modulates the anti-lock feature until the speeds are equal again. If you run a blower, turbo, or even a naturally aspirated engine, MSD's Boost Timing Masters allow you to run at the edge of detonation for maximum power output. They can prevent detonation by automatically retarding the timing as your manifold pressure increases. The secret lies in a boost pressure sensor that's inside MSD's solid-state control box. The sensor reads boost pressure through a 1/8 in. vacuum hose attached to a boost pressure source. The result gives you peak power without harmful detonation. A dash-mounted control knob allows you to dial in the retard from 1 to 3 degrees per pound of boost pressure, up to a maximum retard of 15 degrees. Vacuum tubing is not included. These units must be used with an MSD 6, 7 or 8 series ignition.
