MSD Pro-Billet Ready-to-Run distributors are the perfect upgrade for weak OE electronic distributors, outdated points distributors, and large HEIs or DuraSparks. All that's required is to install the distributor in the engine, and connect three wires and the coil! A maintenance-free magnetic pickup accurately triggers this ignition with increased output from the amplifier, easily outperforming stock ignitions. It will smooth out the engine's idle, improve starting, and perform at a much higher rpm. The housing is machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum, using state-of-the-art CNC mills and lathes for a unit with no porosity or weak areas. Clayton Machine ignition coil covers stylishly hide the LS engine coil packs. Unlike the plastic or fiberglass versions, these covers are machined from 6063 T-6 aluminum and can be ordered in black or grey powdercoated finishes; they're also available unfinished so you can customize them to match your vehicle. The covers fit GM LS engines utilizing existing coil bracket mounting points, and are ideal for LS crate motors. (Unless a cutout is fabricated or aftermarket alternator and brackets are used, they will not clear factory high mount alternators, like those found on Corvettes.) Clayton Machine ignition coil covers can be used with relocated coil packs for a lower profile appearance, and are best suited for aftermarket serpentine pulley systems. We've taken our original Ready-to-Run billet distributors and upped the ante with our Summit Racing™ Digital RTR (Ready-to-Run) Plus billet distributors. They now feature a digital module with a 7.5 amp rated dwell control circuit for maximum energy output. They deliver 400 volts and 125mJ of spark energy to the coil and upwards of 50,000 volts from the coil to the spark plugs. We've also added a single-stage rev limiter with a simple "tap to ground" process of the tachometer lead attached to the module to set the limiter. The tachometer dual purpose lead also produces a 25 percent duty cycle, square wave signal, so it can be used with multifunction tachometers and most popular aftermarket EFI systems. Another bonus feature of our digital technology is a fully automatic start retard. This built-in feature provides 4 degrees of timing retard during cranking and is fully dialed out by 300 rpm. This gives you easier and quicker hot restarts while lowering the initial start load on the starter and electrical system.
