Summit Racing™ billet electronic Mopar distributors convert your old points ignition to a new modern electronic breaker-less system. Available as standalone units or in a complete kit, these distributors offer these benefits: improved timing and dwell control; higher energy at the spark plug for easier starting; improved throttle response; extended RPM range; and better efficiency, along with increased spark plug life. The distributor bodies are CNC-machined from forged 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and come with a glass fiber reinforced (PBT) tan cap (which is patterned after the OEM dual point cap)—with extra internal voltage dams that help to prevent crossfire while resisting carbon tracking. The shafts are centerless ground and ride on both upper and lower sealed roller bearings for smooth operation at high RPM's and extended service life. The cap contacts and rotor blade are brass and the rotor spring is stainless steel, all for long-term maximum conductivity. Designed to fit our SUM-850610 and SUM-850620 boxes or a number of MSD 6 series boxes. Voltage spikes are generally associated with "noisy" electrical systems from defects such as worn or dirty alternator brushes, corroded or oxidized connections, and similar electrical problems. Summit Racing™ power filters offer a great solution to those issues. These units are for use with Unilite ignition systems, and are designed to absorb electrical spikes from the ignition—thus saving the electric module inside the distributor.
