A great piston starts with a great forging. Forged Pro piston forgings are stronger AND lighter. This makes more power AND takes stress off the crank, rods and block at higher rpm. Most old production engines were designed to run on 87 octane in heavy vehicles. If you're building a performance engine, chances are you're running it on 91+ octane and you might as well add a little pop. Forged Pro pistons yield an extra 1/2 point of compression in most instances. This is free power from idle on up for the life of the engine! Forged Pro pistons have extra thick ring lands for moderate boost and nitrous. Special care has been taken to deburr critical areas for more strength and less chance of detonation. Special skirt profiles are designed to run at tighter clearances than other forged pistons for less piston rock.
