If you're looking for a cost-effective camshaft solution to delete that pesky DOD—Chevrolet Performance stock replacement non-DOD camshafts are the answer. They're designed to work with OEM valve springs/pushrods in the DOD-equipped Gen 4 trucks. These OEM camshafts are standard equipment on non-DOD 5.3L trucks. Since they come as a single-bolt style, new timing gear won't be necessary. Just swap cams and additional DOD delete parts (sold separately) and you're ready to roll! A fairly stock truck shouldn't require dyno tuning; however, the DOD system must be disabled in ECU for proper functionality. It is advised to consult with your tuner for more information. Melling timing chain sets are designed for use with either performance or stock cams. They have a solid-bushing chain for a true bearing surface that rolls with the sprockets, eliminating chain stretch. The crank gears are machined from stress-proof steel. Most Melling timing chain sets have three keyways to ensure accurate timing for early or late model vehicles, and to allow you to set the cam timing at 4 degrees advanced, 4 degrees retarded, or stock. However, 50-state (stock replacement) sets have single keyways. The chains are available in several styles, such as single or double roller, single non-roller, and link belt. With Cloyes Hex-A-Just timing sets, infinitely adjustable cam timing is as simple as turning an Allen wrench. Consisting of SAE 1144 billet steel cam and crank sprockets and a true roller timing chain, these timing sets use a special hex-head bushing installed on your cam's dowel pin. This bushing lines up with degree marks on the cam sprocket. You can adjust timing in fractions of a degree (as much as +/-6 degrees) by loosening the cam bolts and turning the bushing with an Allen wrench. COMP Cams 1/2 in. rocker stud and trunnion retrofit kits provide a stiffer valvetrain to achieve maximum valve motion in SBC or BBC engine applications utilizing COMP Cams Ultra Pro Magnum or Ultra Pro Magnum XD rocker arms. They were originally designed for applications competing in the NHRA Stock Eliminator class, but are a great choice for anyone whose sanctioning body's rules do not allow stud girdles. The kits feature 1/2 in. ARP rocker arm studs, 1/2 in. trunnions, 1/2 in. polylocks, new bearings, and new snap rings. They include everything required to switch over to the new studs and freshen and rebuild your rockers at the same time.
