For maximum stopping power, they feature Wilwood's billet Superlite 4-piston calipers, teamed up with PolyMatrix pads and zinc plated 13 in. directional, slotted, internally vaned hat-style rotors that are compatible with existing ABS components. In addition, the parking brake is done via an "internal shoe" setup inside of the rotor hat. Wilwood's forged DynaPro Big Brake front brake kit (140-14316) is configured for dedicated road racing vehicles such as the Mazda MX-5 Miata and Fiat 124 Spider. It requires 15 in. wheels designed with additional inside clearance to accommodate the larger-than-stock brake package. The 4-piston DP/ST calipers used in this kit feature a forged aluminum body with a Type III Mil-Spec hard anodized, medium gray color finish. Hard anodizing provides superior wear resistance in the piston bores, and high resistance to abrasion and corrosion throughout. Thermlock pistons are used to reduce heat transfer from the pads to increase fade resistance, and to extend service life by decreasing temperatures in the caliper body, fluid, and seals. Internal damper springs and controlled retraction, high-temperature piston seals assure consistent pedal height from start to finish. Caliper piston volumes are sized for compatibility with OE power brake boosters and master cylinders—and are easily configured with manual brake conversions and balance bar pedals using appropriately sized master cylinders. Spec37 alloy, GT competition series 11.00 in. diameter 72 vane rotors are mounted to either the OE hubs or Wilwood racing ProHubs, with weight-saving forged aluminum hats. Unsprung and rotating weight are minimized while providing high cooling efficiency and rugged durability with thermal stability in sustained high-heat competition. Mounting brackets, including all premium-grade fasteners, secure the calipers in the stock location, without modifications. Wilwood DynaPro radial rear drag brake kits deliver high-torque stopping power with a substantial weight savings over the OE brake components. Dynamic-mount steel rotors weigh only 5.7 lbs. each and attach to the OE hubs with lightweight forged aluminum hats—using a T-nut mounting system that allows the rotor to move independently of the hat during heat cycles. This eliminates stress at the mount points and the subsequent rotor distortion that can otherwise occur with fixed-mount steel plate rotors. Dynamic-mount rotors also assure full release from the pads to run true and drag-free down the track. Parking brakes are also eliminated for additional weight savings. Clamping force is provided by radial-mount DynaPro 4R 4-piston aluminum calipers, weighing in at only 4.1 lbs. each.
