VDO Plastilube brake grease is a high-quality brake assembly lubricant, more commonly known as ATE Plastilube. It's specifically formulated to reduce vibrations and eliminate squealing noise between the brake pads and the caliper or piston due to corrosion or premature wear. This product provides long-lasting protection for metal components, such as caliper guide surfaces, slide pins, and the area between the piston and the pad backing plate, even in adverse weather conditions. The formula is waterproof and resists washing off, ensuring consistent performance and an extended service life. It has no melting point and retains its lubricating properties at high temperatures (up to 180 degrees C in service range). Plastilube is free from metallic soaps and fatty acids, making it non-corrosive and compatible with all metals and most O-ring materials. Available in multiple sizes. * ATE Plastilube is applied to specific areas during brake assembly to ensure smooth operation and longevity: -- Caliper guide pins and bushings -- Pad backing plates (at the contact points with the caliper or piston) -- Caliper guide surfaces (the "ears" of the brake pads where they contact the caliper carrier) (Important note: This grease should never be applied to the friction surface of the brake pads or the brake discs. It is also not suitable for lubricating brake caliper seals, cylinders, and pistons internally; a different lubricant is required for those hydraulic components).
