They start with 1/4 in. formed shell for the center section, and then attach 1/2 in. face plates. The housings finally connect the DOM axle tubes to the center section with their 3-point attachment system, giving the tubes superior support and engagement into the center section. Years after releasing their successful Rock Assault 9 axle housing, Trail-Gear decided to add a Toyota 8 in. version to the Rock Assault lineup. This housing is built to the same specifications as the Rock Assault 9 axles; however, they're built to accept the popular Toyota 8 in. differential. These housings have been tested in W.E. Rock, CalRocs, and King of the Hammers—so you know they'll stand up to the toughest terrain on earth. Trail-Gear started with a 1/4 in. thick formed shell for the center section made from A36 steel. This is a high-strength, low alloy, structural steel plate with a minimum yield strength of 36,000 psi. All of this is attached to an equally strong 1/2 in. thick faceplate for anchoring the DOM axle tubes. The axle tubes are secured by the industry's first 3-Point Attachment System, giving the tubes superior support and engagement into the center section. Trail-Gear also faces the center section to ensure your differential mounts flush against the axle housing to prevent any leaks. Rock Assault Fabricated 8 Housings are offered with 3.5 in. O.D. axle tubes with your choice of 1/4 in. or 3/8 in. wall thickness. NOTE: The housing is shipped with no ends. Housing ends must be sourced and installed to complete axle. Portal style ends are commonly used for this application.

Specifically designed for Toyota Tacoma trucks, the Trail-Gear Rock Defense dual T-case crossmembers provide a sturdy secure transfer case mount, while also providing superior transfer case protection while sliding across any rocks your vehicle can tackle. The Rock Defense T-case crossmembers are made from 3/8 in. thick 1010 steel, so you have confidence that your transfer case is supported and covered when you are sliding over even the nastiest rocks. These crossmember kits can be mounted either by drilling the frame and bolting the crossmember in, or simply by welding the crossmember mounting brackets to the frame and bolting the crossmember to the mounting brackets. Trail-Gear also offers single transfer case crossmember kits. Both dual case and single case crossmembers use the same mounting brackets, so that once you have your single case brackets installed, there is no need to change them when upgrading to dual cases. You simply bolt dual case crossmember into the same bracket, all that is needed is an additional T-case mount.
