Strange heavy-duty U-joint girdles are the ultimate in U-joint retention. Designed to withstand the high stresses of racing and off-road abuse, these fasteners are built using a stud-and-nut method versus the traditional U-bolt. Providing a 360 degree clamping area prevents needle bearing damage and journal brinelling—which translates to less heat and longer life. Features include: * Heat-treated, chromoly steel straps * ETD 150 steel studs * ARP distorted thread, 12-point nuts * Designed for use with Strange pinion yokes

C-clip eliminators, which were originated by Strange Engineering, are required by drag racing rules for good reason. C-clip type axles are retained by a clip above the spline portion of the axles. When the stock axle or differential breaks, the entire axle/brake/wheel assembly can slide completely out of the housing. Strange's C-clip eliminators eliminate wheel loss and worn bearing areas. The bearings are retained and the axles are held securely in place by the C-clip eliminators, which are bolted to the stock axle housing through the existing backing plate holes.

Strange Lightweight Pro Race spools give you the traction that you need by locking the axle shafts together, forcing your rear tires to turn at the same speed. They're CNC-machined from forged chromoly steel to provide a more rigid ring gear mounting. This eliminates the gear failure caused by case deflection or differential side-gear failure. For even lighter weight, there are aluminum-alloy versions available for some applications.

Whether you're narrowing a rear axle housing for bigger tires, or just building a new housing for your street car, you will need housing ends to complete the project. These Strange rear housing ends are offered in five popular styles, each CAD-designed to ensure a proper fit. They are forged from mild steel for ease of welding and then fully machined on CNC equipment.

Strange HD Pro aluminum case kits offer large bore sizes for the highest splined axles. They use superior 206-T4 heat-treated aluminum, which has 12 percent more yield strength and 32 percent higher tensile strength than the commonly used 356-T6; it's also substantially lighter than an iron case. HD Pro kits are designed for drag racing or abusive street/strip applications with high horsepower and torque. They feature a billet pinion support with 360 degree channel to maximize oil flow to the pinion bearing, as well as two contact points with the bore of the case--which holds the pinion shaft more securely for improved bearing and gear life. Their oversized tail bearing handles more load and greater rpm; billet main caps with chromoly studs support the carrier bearings, while significantly reducing ring gear deflection.

Strange offers their rear axle housings in a variety of configurations, from just the center housing to complete, ready-to-bolt-in assemblies. The axle housings are designed and manufactured to be more rigid and stronger than OEM housings. Depending on the application, they're fabricated from proprietary nodular iron (substantially stronger than cast iron) and other quality materials—then fixture-welded to ensure proper alignment; slotted for full tube engagement; and reinforced at critical areas to reduce center section and axle tube flex. Whether your car is headed for the street, the track, or the drag strip, customize the rear-end with a Strange rear axle housing so it will meet or exceed your expectations.

Strange 9 in. nodular iron cases have steel bearing caps with socket head cap screws and machined adjusting nuts. The cases use D-4512 nodular iron--eight percent stronger than OEM nodular iron--and have extra material around the pinion pilot bearing area to prevent cracking. The bolt holes are deep-tapped and cast with extra material around their diameters. Bearing bores and reinforcing ribs are also cast with additional material for strength, and the stud holes are spot-faced to prevent leaks and mounting surface damage.

Strange C-Clip axles are designed for those wanting to upgrade their axles to stronger, more reliable units. These axles are manufactured from the same high-strength steel as the rest of the S-Series performance axles that have proven themselves in race and road cars all over. Their hardened surface protects the axles and bearings, giving them a longer service life and their deeper case hardening offers superior torsional strength when compared to OEM axles. Each axle features fully ground bearing surfaces, is designed to work with OEM bearings, and is drilled for screw-in and OEM press-in studs. Upgrade your axes to help reign in and plant all of the horsepower your hot rod or race car can muster with these Strange C-Clip axles.

Finding the right differential is often an experiment in compromise--spools, lockers, and limited-slips all have their pros and cons. Strange S-Trac differentials use helical gears for optimum strength while retaining smooth operation similar to a posi. Unlike standard limited-slips, there are no cones, springs, or clutches to wear out; the preloaded 35-spline unit's helical gears are constantly adjusting to the conditions, resulting in positive traction even around turns. Under normal conditions they operate like an open differential, but once slippage occurs a force is created between the pinion and side gears which generate friction, slowing the spinning tire and sending power to the one with the most traction. When power is applied, it wedges all the gears together so the wheels will spin in unison. Their surefire grip is especially useful on curves and corners where both tires receive power, as the inner differentiating allows the racer to hit the throttle midway through the corner and set up for the straightaway. The case halves and internal gears of these S-Tracs use high-rated case-hardened steel--with multiple massive pinion gears to control differential action (6 with Dana 60, STR-D3523; 12 with Ford 9 in., STR-N1980). These differentials do not influence vehicle steering, and have no perceived backlash. No special friction modifiers or additives are required. Whether using your vehicle for street/strip, autocross, road racing, circle track, or off-road, Strange S-Trac differentials will pull you through.
