Race failure is a chronic problem with high-torque loads causing race fractures at two stress points: the radial lube holes and the sharp inside corners at the base of the outer splines. Sonnax outer races are engineered with offset lube holes so rollers never travel directly over the holes, and they are spaced so only one roller is ever positioned near a hole, radically reducing the risk of fracture. Other design improvements to the splines, plus upgraded material and a custom manufacturing process, further improve durability, doubling the torque capacity over any OE or other aftermarket races. Many Sonnax clutch hubs are designed for the extra-duty requirements of drag racing with Powerglide and other GM transmissions, for instance. Machined from a high-quality medium carbon steel forging, most hubs will accept five friction discs for the added load capacity needed in high horsepower race cars. All splines and thrust surfaces are precision-machined to exacting tolerances, and the unique lube hole pattern is designed to reduce drag on the friction discs in low gear. Sonnax clutch hubs are also available with or without lightening holes to reduce rotational weight.

In certain applications there is no way to pilot a reamer to repair a worn valve body, forcing rebuilders to purchase new ones. This patented self-aligning fixture with specially designed tool kits allows these valve bodies to be repaired. The fixture provides an external rigid pilot bore for the reamer and guide pin. The self-aligning feature allows the fixture to be used on multiple valve bodies and valve bores. The fixture base is large enough to provide ample support for the valve body. Various transmissions locate some valve bores in the pump body rather than the valve body. These larger pump bodies do not readily fit onto the standard VB-FIX base plate. Sonnax offers an oversized pump base plate, VB-06, that allows large passenger vehicle pump bodies to be easily mounted and clamped to the VB-FIX for repair. Sonnax heavy-duty reverse pistons offer high-strength that will not break at racing pressures. Made from 6061 T-6 billet aluminum, Sonnax reverse pistons are configured to utilize four frictions and five steels, but can also be machined to accept additional frictions and steels for trans-brake applications. They're customizable for any application. To reduce rotating weight in Circle Track applications, two frictions (rotating) and seven steels (non-rotating) can be used. Sonnax heavy-duty reverse pistons include inner and outer seals.

Upgrade your transmission's clutch pack with Sonnax automatic transmission clutch steels. These premium-quality steel parts give you the best combination of coefficient of friction and performance. Sonnax offers severe-duty clutch steels for use in a variety of automatic transmissions—including racing applications. These steels are available with up to double the number of external teeth as OE. With more teeth engaged, wear should be reduced dramatically. Anti-drag tabs create the maximum clearance between the friction and steel when the clutch is disengaged. Turbulator holes reduce parasitic drag. Combining anti-drag tabs and turbulator holes significantly reduces the heat generated when the clutch freewheels.

Sonnax ring gear stabilizer kits reduce high-speed vibration and drag, while also preventing damage to short pinion gear teeth. Powerglide transmissions with poorly supported planetary ring gears will experience vibration at high speeds and broken reverse friction plates as it moves off the transmission center line, oscillating out of control. These Sonnax kits install easily on Sonnax bolt-together, 1.80 and 1.69 ratio planetary carriers, and with proper support, the ring gear stays on-center.
