These permanently assembled bolt sets feature special washers with super-hardened serrated teeth that, when torqued to 28 lbs.-ft., bite into and grab the bottom of the bolt head and the top surface of the header. Any bolt-loosening rotation is blocked by the wedge-locking action created by the washers' interfacing cams; but what's really impressive is that engine vibration—the enemy—increases the tension, making them even more secure! Proform wedge-locking collector bolts are permanently assembled with two pairs of unique locking washers. These washers feature super-hardened teeth on the outer surfaces that bite into both the bolt head bottoms and the flange top surfaces when tightened. They further increase their locking power with interfacing, matching cams that cause a wedge-locking action. This means any bolt-loosening vibrations will actually secure the bolt even more by causing further constriction between the washers. By implementing tension instead of friction, these fasteners actually benefit from contact with oil. You can untighten Proform wedge-locking collector bolts at any time with a normal wrench, then lubricate, and reuse.
