These CrossWind intake manifolds from Professional Products feature identical plenum and runner designs to the Typhoon. The main difference is that there is an open area under the plenum chamber. This feature is sometimes called an air gap design. The air flowing under the plenum provides a cooler charge for the incoming air with less heat transfer from the engine. This cooler air charge provides additional power.

These Cyclone intake manifolds from Professional Products are designed to fit engine swaps using the 1996 and later Vortec cast iron heads or the Edelbrock E-Tec aluminum heads. These Professional Products CrossWind Vortec manifolds are intended for 1995 and earlier blocks using the 1996 and later Vortec (Gen 1+) cylinder heads or the Edelbrock E-Tec heads. They can also be used on 1996 and later Vortec engines, but require running a short length of heater hose from a pipe tapped hole in the front of the manifold to the 5/8 in. hose nipple on the passenger's side of the water pump. The 1996 and later Vortec blocks do not have a water bypass in the block, and this minor modification takes care of that problem. These are one of Professional Products' most popular street manifolds.
