These ignitions are designed for performance marine applications where a high-energy and reliable ignition is a necessity. The capacitive discharge (CD) multiple sparks from the 6-series circuitry ensure easier starting, improved performance, and reduced plug fouling while idling. The MSD 6M-2L ignitions have the same mounting footprint as the original units, so they will easily fit into existing brackets. The proven Soft-Touch rev limiting action is set using MSD's marine rpm modules, so you'll be able to set a rev limit exactly where your engine needs it. The 6M-2L ignitions are built to deal with constant high rpm and load conditions unique to marine applications. To protect the 6M-2Ls' electrical circuitry from direct water contact, the entire units are potted with red polyurethane. This material prevents the electrical components from coming into contact with water or other chemicals that could cause damage. Weathertight connectors with multi-ribbed seals are unaffected by water, oil, gasoline, and most other chemicals associated with boats. The 6M-2L ignitions can be triggered by a magnetic pickup (distributor or crank trigger), amplifier, or breaker point distributor. MSD Programmable Digital-7 CD Plus ignitions have an output power and Individual Cylinder Management timing system that are hard to beat. At the heart of these ignitions is a 15 MHz micro-controller that analyzes and manages every trigger signal. Their capacitive discharge circuits and state-of-the-art IGBT coil drivers work together to deliver a potent spark that can easily handle high cylinder pressures. Below 3,300 rpm, a series of sparks burn in the cylinder over 20 degrees of crankshaft rotation, producing a smooth idle with great throttle response. You can control all of this spark energy through an array of timing and rpm programs. These MSD 6-Hemi ignition controllers fire the coils and control the timing on Hemis that are retro-fit with a carburetor or late model factory electronic fuel injection. You program two separate rev limits and have a single-step retard adjustment. The MSD 6-Hemi ignition controllers connect easily, directly to the coils, crankshaft, cam, and MAP sensors for a simple installation. Wiring harnesses for installing on factory EFI engines are sold separately.
