Improved Racing's engine block oil galley barbell plugs feature a second O-ring that completely seals off the dirty oil from the clean oil, forcing 100 percent of the flow through the filter. Sharp corners were avoided and machined as smooth fillets to improve oil flow, while the bull nose tip helps smooth oil flow to the oil filter. The shaft diameter is smaller than the OEM plastic barbell to minimize flow restriction, and the threaded hole allows for easy removal with any 4mm x 0.7 threaded screw. Improved Racing oil cooler adapters have a low-profile for more header clearance. The adapters are machined from a single piece of billet aluminum and black anodized. For additional clearance with reliable sealing, they come with aluminum gaskets fitted with Viton® seals, and the adapter mounting holes are counter-bored so the mounting bolts fit flush with the adapter surface. Select Improved Racing oil cooler adapters are also available with a built-in thermostat. Oil coolers help prevent the oil from getting too hot, but are also prone to lowering oil temperatures too much, especially in colder weather or during highway driving. Improved Racing high-flow flapper check valves are ideal for use in oiling systems (wet sump and dry sump), fuel systems, crankcase pressure ventilation systems, and more. Most check valve designs—including poppet check valves, ball check valves, diaphragm check valves, piston check valves, and others—are restrictive, resulting in a pressure drop across the valve even when fully open. Improved Racing's check valves use a flapper design, originally developed for military jet engine turbines, that swings completely out of the fluid's flow path, adding virtually no flow restriction. These check valves were further optimized for low restriction at high flow rates using flow simulation software—and were designed to exceed most military specification requirements. The valves have been tested at up to 1,000 psi of backflow holding pressure without catastrophic failures or excessive leakage. This allows Improved Racing to very safely rate these valves to hold 300 psi of backflow pressure under normal operating conditions with a very high factor of safety. For comparison, the military surplus flapper check valves tested failed catastrophically with complete pressure loss at less than 200 psi. This flapper-style valve has a very low cracking pressure of less than 0.05 psi. Every internal component (hinge, spring, hinge pin, and gasket core) is made from stainless steel to ensure long-lasting, reliable performance and compatibility with just about any fluid, including corrosive fluids. The check valve's gasket is made from FKM (Viton®) rubber bonded to a stainless steel core, giving it a high operating temperature of up to 302 degrees F. It's also highly chemical-resistant and compatible with all types of fuel. Improved Racing's check valves are available in multiple fitting sizes, and the inlet and outlet halves can be mixed and matched to create a completely custom valve. Proper oil pan baffling is critical for improving oil control and reducing oil starvation in high performance engines. Improved Racing oil pan baffles provide effective, track-proven protection against oil starvation for road racing, drifting, autocross, drag racing, and even off-roading and rock crawling. The baffles use trap doors to keep oil around the pickup tube and provide vastly improved oil control over the stock baffles. They are sufficient to prevent oil pressure drops at up to 1.4 sustained lateral Gs in most vehicles. Even semi-dry sump systems suffer from oil aeration when the pickup tube in the oil pan sucks up air, aerates the oil, and fills the dry sump tank with foamy oil. Foamy oil is compressible and results in oil pressure drops when pumped into the engine. Improved Racing baffles help keep more oil around the pickup tube in the oil pan, reducing oil aeration and improving oil pressure. Improved Racing created the first bolt-on automatic transmission fluid adapter with a thermostat for GM's 6L, 8L, and 10L automatic transmissions. Each adapter's built-in thermostat automatically bypasses the transmission cooler until the fluid reaches operating temperature. The thermostat reduces rough shifts caused by overcooled transmission fluid, reduces wear, and improves efficiency and horsepower. Your transmission can now reach operating temps quickly while retaining the cooling capacity needed for high load activities such as towing or racing. It's the best of both worlds! Adapter model TGM-100-T2 features SAE female -6 AN O-ring boss ports that accept adapter fittings for 5/16, 3/8, 1/2 in. hose barbs or male AN fittings. This allows you to run common rubber transmission cooler lines or braided AN lines. Improved Racing's C5 Corvette oil temperature sensors function identically to the factory sensors, but uses the more common 1/8 in. NPT threads and features an extended wire harness for convenience. The factory C5 Corvette oil temp sensors utilize M12 threads, which are not compatible with most aftermarket oil cooler adapters and sensor blocks. These custom units feature the same resistance curve as the factory units for accurate temperature readings with the factory gauges, but are compatible with any oil cooler adapter or sensor block that accepts an 1/8 in. NPT sensor. If you are installing an oil cooler on your C5 Corvette, this is the sensor to use!
