Gardner-Westcott offers Handyman-Style Nutsert Tools in a variety of sizes—to accommodate different nutsert thread and hole dimensions. Nutserts are of a one-piece design consisting of a nut portion and a sleeve portion. The nutsert is threaded onto the placing tool's mandrel and inserted into a drilled hole. The rotating tool mandrel exerts a pulling action which "breaks" the nut portion from the sleeve, drawing it into the sleeve; notice the sleeve does not expand. The nut portion fully expands the sleeve, which exerts a full 360-degree swag fit against the side of the hole—and you now have a permanent load-bearing steel captive nut ready for use. Additional notes on nutserts and tools: * Non-grip sensitive; one length fits "any" thickness over .030 * Blind-installs from one side of the walk * Will not torque loose * Use in almost any material: steel, aluminum, fiberglass, cast-iron, and plastics * Vibration-proof * Nearly flush; only .015 protrusion. Installation will not mar the parent material
