Classic Instruments tachometer filters install between the tachometer and the ignition trigger source. They are designed to trap, redirect, and dissipate the high-voltage spikes and surges that are emitted by any late model, high-energy ignition system. The filters also modifiy the sharp up and down spikes into a semi-square wave signal for steady pointer readings and faster pointer response.

Classic Instruments pull-up resistors are needed to enable their standard (non-ZST) tachometers work with your GM LS-Series engine. The pull-up resistor will boost the weak LS 4-cylinder signal to the tachometer to one it can recognize. Most stock ECM GM computers will require this part to function correctly with a standard tachometer.
