25 in / very easy to extend if you have access to steel ? Bottom 2 pieces I added myself to extend

Thank you for your question. The Summit G7900 driveshaft safety loop can be used in pairs for some applications due to driveshaft length and power levels.

Will this work out OK on 55 chevy? I am assuming it bolts to the inside of the frame and then the loops bolt to the side pieces.

Thank you for your question.The Summit G7900 Driveshaft Safety Loop is a universal safety loop that bolts to the floor pan and should fit your 1955 Chevy. The instructions on the website explain how to install this, and include a diaphragm to show how it should look once assembled and installed.
