Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

Can this unit be adapted to run with 1/4" line?

Asked by SCOTT on April 24, 2018

A:

Thank you for your question. The Summit G3905 Adjustable Brake Proportioning Valves come with 1/8 in. NPT inlet and outlets, as well as 3/8 in.-24 inverted flare tube adapters. Unfortunately, we do not carry a brake fitting to adapt either of these to a 1/4 in. line at this time.

Q:

I’m converting my 96 f-250 to rear disc brakes and was told I would need a proportioning valve will this help for my application?

Asked by DOUGLAS on December 21, 2018

A:

Thank you for your question. The Summit G3905 proportioning valve would work with a rear disc brake system. You would need to make sure this is the only proportioning valve as the factory distribution block already reduced pressure for the factory drums.

Same design as the first ones from back in the 80's. The same quality, comes with adapters for 3/16 lines. I have used a dozen of these with absolutely no returns. They are easy to adjust and mount friendly.

These are great when converting to disc brakes and creating your own plumbing. Run this valve straight from the rear brake chamber on the master cylinder. Do not run this into or from an existing distribution block.

I like that the knob is clearly labled for adjustment. Ive uses wilwood proportioning valves and they are lacking such clear labeling.

I used this unit to replace a factory GM proportioning valve. It worked best at the lowest setting so a little more adjustment on the low end could be useful.

Replaced my single pot brakes in my 66 Coronet with a dual pot and put this in line with the back ones. Have not cone much tinkering with the settings but I can tell it is doing it's job. Good price and easy to install (except for having to bleed the brakes... what is is about bleeding the brakes? Its probably my least favorite thing to do on my car). ...read more
