The Summit Racing Pro LS Truck Swap cams are affordable and give you maximum punch where the torque converter hits. The cam lobes are designed for excellent valve train longevity. Both drop-in or high-lift versions are available. They come in stages allowing you to quickly determine which gives you the idle and efficiency you are looking for. Idle response and the midrange torque from theses camshafts is unmatched. Starting with American bearing steel, they are precision machined on a Landis 3LB CNC grinder with CBN diamond wheels for an extremely good finish quality. The lobes have been designed for stability at high rpm with the spring pressures found in commonly available, quality spring packs.

Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question

What lifters should I buy with this. Stock 2001 silverado 5.3 lm7

Asked by JOHN on October 28, 2018

Thank you for your question. The Summit 8712 camshaft would take standard LS style lifters like the Chevrolet Performance 12499225 or the Summit Racing SUM-HT214.

Would I need to have my ECU tuned for a 04 6.0? Would I be ok running a stock flash? This truck will be used for towing and no racing.

Asked by ZACHARIAH on November 27, 2018

It should be tuned for the cam, you may have some negative affects on drivability without a tune. However it will probably not run lean in PE mode without since factory settings are on the rich side and this is a smaller cam.

Looking for a cam to go in my LM7 with 5 speed manual transmission. Going to go with dual plane intake, and MSD box to run carb. What CFM carb should I use With stock (862)heads,springs and push rods, should I get this stage 2 or would the Sum-8701 stage 1 cam be a better choice?

Asked by TORY on November 25, 2018

Thank you for your question. The Summit 8712 or the 8701 camshafts will both use a 650-700 cfm carburetor without too much trouble.

What affect should I expect this cam to have on gas milage and fuel efficiency in an Avalanche? Should I expect better, worse or about the same as stock?

Asked by ANDREW on August 29, 2018

Thank you for your question. The SUM-8712 will have a negligible affect on your fuel mileage. One of the testers attributed this to his truck not needing to downshift as much to maintain acceleration up grades.

Perfect cam for 2009 Silverado

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

Installed this in my 2009 Silverado with 4.8 motor. Install went smooth aside from removing/installing the balancer. Can fit snug and no loose in oil pressure. To my surprise, my stock pushrod lengths worked with this. At idle, you can tell truck is cammed. It sounds great but not agressive. Still working on tuning it as I haven't had much time but so far even running slightly Rich I notice the bottom end is more powerful. Stock converter works good. Will update after I tune some more. more
