Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

Will this work for a shiftoid 3 speed to shift 2 times per run when RPM is reached?

Asked by MICHAEL on December 25, 2018

A:

It will activate every time the desired rpm is reached. So in the case of multiple shifts, this should work fine because the engine rpm will drop below the set range every time it shifts

Q:

I want to use this to turn on the aircon clutch/compressor. I need to wire it to the + wire going to the clutch. How many amps does the standard sanden style compressor clutch draw? The car is a 74 Alfa GTV with streetfire ignition. I will set it to turn on the compressor at around 1800 rpm so when at a light or stopped it won't mess up my idle. Will this work? Thanks, Mike

Asked by MICHAEL on April 18, 2018

A:

The other rpm activated window switch will turn on and off the desired device as many times as the rpms pass the set limits each ignition cycle. Are we positive this switch only works once each ignition cycle? The 1000 rpm limit is more desirable than the 2000 rpm limit.

Q:

I am thinking of purchasing this switch to activate a water injection pump. My question regards the operation of the switch. I understand that the switch can be set to turn a device on when a preset engine rpm is reached, but will the switch automatically turn the device off when the engine rpm falls below the preset activation rpm? Appreciate a speedy answer so I can order this product or not.

Asked by ANDY on January 19, 2017

A:

Thank you for your question. Summit Racing SUM-830450-1 will turn the device it is connected to off when the engine RPM falls below the set RPM of the switch. It will then reactivate when the RPM climbs back above where the switch is set.

Nice switch easy to install but USE SHIELDED WIRE

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

SUM-830450-1
Switch works great but had some issues with trigger circuit. When wiring this switch to any trigger circuit you MUST USE SHEILDED WIRE after a lot of head ache with false triggers and improper rpm reading I ended using a 2 strand twisted pair of shielded wire. I was getting false rpm signals from other wires in the harness. After rewire with shielded wire I have had no issues at all with about 2 months use ...read more

Great idea.....didn't work for me

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

SUM-830450-1
I wanted this because of it being so easy to change my shift rpm to get my quickest et. And, the tach feature this switch has ( it reads as a digital tach during operation) It did activated my shift solenoid at the set rpm as described...... The problem for me was it wanted to activate my shifter solenoid randomly and without warning. ie......driving to the staging lanes, the burn out box, and at the line. Call the tech guys and they said most likely "RF interference" and to ship it back. They suggested the MSD rpm switch and gave it to me at a discount and free shipping. The customer service rep. Priscilla was first rate and handled my situation promptly. ...read more

Digital window switch

Very bad digital window switch. Didn't even make one pass, caused nitrous system to pulse the solenoids down the track due to it not accurately reading the rpms.

Instructions are wrong

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

SUM-830450-1
The instructions state that the blue wire will provide POWER until/after a rpm is reached. The blue wire instead provides a path to GROUND. Good product, instructions need to be corrected.
