Summit Racing® Brake Proportioning Valves
Summit Racing® brake proportioning valves keep the proper amount of brake fluid pressure applied to your front and rear wheels. You should choose more quality for less money with Summit Racing® brake proportioning valves.
I have a 1983 s 10 blazer that i converted to rear discs. My existing proportioning valve has two ports in and two ports out. Can I just plug one of the outlets on this proportioning valve?

Straight off the instruction sheet.
Plug off the top front line, then have the bottom line go to a "T" fitting with line going to each caliper.
This valve is a lot bigger than it looks. I'm going to have to fabricate a bracket.

no you need new prop.valve for 4 wheel disc setup that is the correct way.Your old valve is for drum brake on rear and the pressure wont be correct for the rear disc to work properly.if you only have one steel brake line that goes to both front wheels you can block off one of the front outlets on the new valve. The two outlets on the front are for front wheels, one for left and one for right they are the same, dont plug any other inlets or outlets!
Yes, this valve is designed to be able to support rear disk brakes. We put if on a 97 GMC Suburban that we have converted to a Cummins 12 valve diesel engine and GM 6L80 transmission. We removed the ABS since they work marginally well and replaced that with this p[roportioning valve. We still have the rear drum brakes on the vehicle but our next portion of this project is to either replace the rear axle with one from a late model Escalade with disc brakes or put rear disk brakes on the current axle and that is why we used the valve that will support rear disk brakes. The Summit site says it will support rear disc brakes.

Yes
That's what I bought it for I was installing disk brakes on the rear and I already have disk on the front when to that you need to have a. valve and this one I got from Summit is perfect for the job and it's a very good quality
A proportioning valve regulates brake line pressure distributing more pressure to the front brakes where 65% of a car's braking power is. This type of valve was used on GM cars when disc breaks first came out (mid/late 60s). The valve was needed because disc brakes require more brake line pressure then drum brakes anyway.
just the valve although you probably dont need the valve either depending on the originals condition and or you know the lines size is different. I needed a new one, it was destroyed, but its a vehicle from 1972. i think it did well for being so old
What ever you do don't buy this as a replacement as I did for my 91 Firebird. It doesn't fit even though the Summit application list say's it does!
All the fittings are of the double (trumpet type) fitting and the 91 car has the single (bubble) type fittings. The rear brake pipe fitting is also in completely the wrong place for our cars. It just doesn't fit period.

I have an '86 Grand National and I did a rear drum to wilwood 4 piston disk brakes conversion. This valve was an exact replacement for my factory one and I was able to use all of the same, stock fittings. After I replaced my rear brakes, I drove the car home on the stock valve which is not made for rear disks since it holds about 10 pounds of residual pressure, and I found that my car did stop a lot better in the rear than before. I am not sure if my stock valve had some sort of a blockage issue, but once I installed this valve from summit, no exaggeration, my braking performance increased by about 300%, mostly in the front. I can hammer the brakes and the car stops like I never thought possible without locking up the rear, even without abs on 4 piston wilwoods.
