Don't waste time installing a generic oil pump when you can get a high-quality Summit® pump that's ready to go. The high volume pumps deliver 20-25 percent more oil than the standard volume pumps, and are pressure-tested and hand-turned to guarantee performance. Available in iron and nodular iron for most applications.

Will this work on a L92 6.2L with a new Comp cam and DOD / AFM delete?

Asked by ROGER A on December 10, 2019

Beware. I used it on a YC9 5.3L after a cam swap and AFM delete. I now have low oil pressure at idle and will be swapping it out with a Melling M365HV

Answer This Question

Would this be good for a bigger cam swap?

Asked by BRANDON on February 02, 2018

I would replace the oil pump when doing the cam swap because you have to remove the oil pump anyway, I noticed my oil preasure being low at about 150,000 and this pump made it come back to above 40 psi at idle again even with 230,000 on it now!

Answer This Question

I just want to know if it's a defective pump I installed it on an engine stand upside down when I prime the pump is leaking oil through the front cover of the pump

Asked by JAMES on July 07, 2019

Thank you for your question. The Summit 121170 oil pump will push oil through the gear housing under normal operation. This is not concerning, just check your oil pressure when the engine is up and running to make sure it isn't using too much of your oil pressure, but this is not a common problem.
