Does this product require an EFI ready gas tank, or does a standard gas tank work?

A:

Thank you for your question. Holley Sniper 550-511K does not require an EFI ready gas tank, however a high pressure EFI pump has to be used. Generally an EFI tank will make life easier when plumbing your fuel system.

Can the return line be installed in the gas tank filler tube? If so is that part of the kit?

A:

We don't recommend running the return back to the filler neck. That essentially drops the return fuel back into the air pocket above the fuel in the tank, which will cause the fuel aeration, and can lead to fuel pump starvation and failure. The K kits all come with a fuel return hose that is designed to be installed in the top of the tank, and will return fuel back into the liquid fuel in the tank.

Sniper efi on big block Mopar

After much debate, I went with Holley instead of the other brand because of their tech support and Holley has been around for ever. My first impressions, nice quality. liked the black finish, liked the multiple inlets for the fuel. Kit included different throttle brackets and such to make something work. I did notice a small crack in the tps sensor, I called Holley and they sent me a new one at n/c. Install was pretty easy. Took me about 4 hours to install, running all the wiring to the fans and fuel lines, all connections are keyed so you can't mess that up. Fired right up on the first try, cold starts are amazing. throttle crispness and idle are great. Only things I needed to buy separate was a weld-in o2 bung and rubber lined clamps for the fuel lines. Holley supplies a clamp on style o2 bung that won't fit around 3 1/2 collectors. The fuel pump is really quiet as compared to a Holley blue pump. I'd definitely do it again. ...read more

Great upgrade for my 1970 SS Chevelle

Great product, easy to install, and straightforward instructions. It took about 7 house for me and my neighbor to install on a Saturday night. The kit was complete with everything we needed to complete the install. I ran a new rubber fuel line for the supply line and used the existing metal fuel line for the return line and just plugged it into one of three vent tubes in the tank. This is not ideal but works until I get an efi tank at Christmas. I plugged in all the wires I needed and drilled my hole into the exhaust for the O2 sensor then answered a few questions and tried to start it. The fuel pump ground was not good enough(my fault) but once that was fixed it started right away. The throttle blades needed some adjusting and after a quick read in the manual, a simple adjustment and it runs great. It starts perfectly every time and idles very smooth, has instant throttle response and still has that old school sound. I didn’t really notice any top end gain but now I can light up the tires anytime under 30 mph where before it would stumble, hesitate or even lug off idle and at part theottle. I have complete confidence in the car now and I find myself wanting to drive it all the time. Overall I love what this product did for my 1967 Plymouth Barracuda. Instant throttle response, perfect air fuel ratio, full panel monitoring, and no more fiddling with the carb. More torque more HP, and lots of it! The car really came alive and performed like I thought it should. It wasn't quite as easy and straight forward as they would like you to believe. I wound up getting the sniper tank and the Holley dual synq distributer before it was over (which I would highly recommend) instead of modifying my msd distributer, and stock gas tank. These components made the install more plug and play. I did not have enough supplied fuel hose for the send and return side so expect to buy more hose. Installed on my 74 Power Wagon 383. Huge difference in throttle response from my old truck avenger carb. Install was easy with good directions. Took about 3 hours and it was running, fired first try. Install kit had everything needed, didn't even have to run to the parts store.

First of all Summit delivered it so fast! Holley's Master kit has everything you'll need to convert you car to efi. It started first crank and instantly idles much better than my carb and it revs quicker too. my only complaint is that they should have included 25ft of fuel hose not 20 as I just barely didn't have enough for my return line. but all in all great system would buy again. ...read more
